See polar bears in the wild — a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity — on a Tundra Buggy Adventure day tour! This memorable tour is designed for people who are already staying in the town of Churchill, nicknamed the Polar Bear Capital of the World due to the many bears that migrate into the area each year. On board a Tundra Buggy, a safe, specially designed wildlife-viewing vehicle, you’ll traverse the open tundra with an expert guide, searching for polar bears and other wildlife like arctic foxes. Lunch and refreshments are included on this tour.

On the day of your adventure, we kindly ask you to meet us at  Fifty Eight North - Home of the Tundra Buggy located at  124 Kelsey Boulevard , no later than 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. You will then be transferred to the Tundra Buggy launch site, where you will board your Tundra Buggy - a large, specially designed all-terrain vehicle that will easily transport you over the vast landscape of this part of northern Canada. We will drop you back off at  Fifty Eight North once the tour is over.

Once you’re settled in the Tundra Buggy, head into the Churchill Wildlife Management Area to begin your search for polar bears and other arctic wildlife. From your expert driver, learn a bit about the Churchill Wildlife Management Area’s 2.1 million acres (850,000 hectares) of subarctic land, which, in addition to being a gathering place for Manitoba’s polar bears in the summer and autumn months, is home to a variety of plant and animal life like arctic foxes, arctic hares, snowy owls and ptarmigan.

As you drive through the open tundra, listen to your driver talk about the effects of the environment — like tides and ice formation — and how it relates to the lives of polar bears and other wildlife in the area.

Please note: Autumn is peak polar bear season, so activities at that time are more focused on viewing the awe-inspiring bears. During the summer months you may see the occasional polar bear, but your driver will bring more attention to other wildlife in the region as well.
During your tour enjoy a picnic-style lunch, which usually includes a sandwich, soup, cookie and coffee, tea or soft drinks.
When you return to the Tundra Buggy launch site, you will be transferred back to the Fifty Eight North gift shop.
