Join a small-group half-day canoe trip in the summer on the Takihini River and Yukon River. In the land of the Midnight Sun, enjoy a leisurely paddle on either of these rivers. Let your guide take care of all the logistics for you. This trip is very easy and user friendly, and can accommodate small children as well. Dogs are welcome, as they love to paddle! If you don't have a dog, your guide has many Alaskan huskies that would love to go.

Enjoy a leisurely paddle on the Takhini or Yukon River with an experienced canoe guide. Watch for beaver, elk or deer along the banks of the river. Relax, take photos and listen to your guide tell stories about life in the Yukon and what it's like to live in the North all year long. 

Choose between a 9am or 1pm tour start time. Your half-day tour is approximately 2 to 3 hour long. After arriving at the ranch, meet your guide and their friendly Alaskan huskies. You'll either depart from the ranch or will drive to a drop-in further up the river, depending on weather and conditions on the river.

Experience the real Yukon and lifestyle with the native dogs during one of the most spectacular times of the year, on this 3-day guided tour. Fall is the time when the days are still warm and long to enjoy lots of outdoor time and the nights are dark to have a chance to see the Northern Lights dancing in the sky. Learn about our life with over hundred Huskies and be part of the fall training with the dogs, take in all the amazing fall colors when canoeing on the Takhini River and enjoy the Yukon Wildlife at the Preserve. Meals are all home cooked in the lodge and you will feel like family. Maximum group size is 8.

Real hands-on experience

Day 1: (Sunday or Thursday) Arrival day
You will be picked up at the airport and bring you to the lodge located in the Yukon Wilderness.
Check in the room,(shared bathrooms) introduction to the off the grid lifestyle and the dogs. Handing out cold weather clothing.

Night 1:
Cozy set up on deck for guest to stay out and wait for the northern lights.
Hot drinks and snacks provided. Also two living rooms in the house with cozy sofas and lots of interesting books to look at so guests do not have to wait in the cold.

Day 2 AM:
Fall training run with the dogs. No snow yet to pull a sled so the dogs will pull a ATV. Up to 12 dogs on one ATV , educational part of how to harness and bootie the dogs, Approx. 1 hour on the ATV, after a walk with dogs to the shore of the Takhini River
Lunch at the Lodge

Afternoon:
Trip to the Wildlife preserve and the Hotsprings. One of the guides will take you to see a variety of species that call Yukon their home before you soak in the warm and relaxing water at the Takhini Hot Pools.

Night 2:
Another night to watch for the skies to light up with the northern lights. Use the tripods provided to get the perfect shot.

Day 3 am:
Time to catch up on some sleep. Pm: 3-hour canoe trip on the Takhini River (two hours on the water) amazing fall colors along the river, and the chance to see wildlife. Beavers call the Takhini River their home and you will be able to see their houses and dams along the way

Night 3:
Last night to stay up and enjoy the comfort of the lodge.

Day 4:  Departure day
Drop off at the airport or at a hotel in town, depending on guest arrangements.

Begin with pick you up at your hotel and depart on the tour. After a short drive, leave the vehicle parked by the lake shore and walk the short distance to the first spot. With the help of an ice-auger, you'll drill a hole in the ice. The ice on a lake can be from 30 cm to 1 m thick! Hot drinks will be available to keep you toasty. Experience five days of summer adventure in the far north. We’ll take you hiking, canoeing, show you the breathtaking summer scenery from above with a sightseeing flight. We let you see wildlife upclose at the “Yukon Wildlife Preserve” and pamper you with a dive into the soothing hot water of the “Takhini Hotsprings”. This is an eventful summer tour in the Yukon for young and young-at-heart travelers.

Day 1: Arrival Whitehorse. From the airport we drive you to your hotel located in the centre of Whitehorse. Overnight Hotel in Whitehorse.

Day 2: Hot Springs, Wildlife and a Birds-Eye-View. We start the day with a sightseeing flight above the spectacular summer scenery on a 20 minutes sightseeing flight. During the flight we can enjoy the yukon scenery from an angle only few people ever will. Back in Whitehorse we will discover the history of the north on a city-sightseeing tour. Whitehorse has a lot to offer and is home to famous sights like the historic Paddle Wheeler SS Klondike or a “Skyscraper” completely made out of logs. Later we drive to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve where we can see up close inhabitant game like the Elk, Moose, Caribou, Mountain Goats and Porcupines in their natural surrounding. Not far from here we will visit the Takhini Hot Springs and endulge ourselves in the natural hot waters and relax in a breathtaking mountain setting. Overnight Hotel in Whitehorse.

Day 3:
Surrounded by mighty mountains. After breakfast we drive into the mountains of Kluane National Park. On this tour you will visit the magnificent Kluane National Park, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. We will stop at Sheep Mountain in hopes to spot the local Dall Sheeps on their traditional territory. We will also learn more about the Glacial Fields in the Kluane NP at the Parks Visitor Centre. Day 4: On historic waterways discover the Yukon’s Gold Rush. Today we’ll learn the old tradition of canoeing. After a detailed safety briefing we’ll get introduced to the art of canoeing and soon we’ll be on our way on historic waterways. On this tour you canoe down the historic Yukon River and enjoy the peaceful scenery. We paddle from Whitehorse to the confluence of the Takhini River. A great day trip for beginner paddlers and a perfect way to enjoy this classic northern river.
